When we speak of Valencian white wine, we evoke the warm climates of our land, but also those refreshing nuances that surprise in every glass. We speak of distinctive soils, of grape varieties that reflect the character of the inland Mediterranean, and of wineries like Vinya Alforí, that make wine a living testimony to Valencian identity.
In the Valencian Community, the Denomination of Origin Valencia embraces the production of white wines made from varieties such as Macabeo, Chardonnay, Muscat, or Verdil, among others. But beyond geography and regulation, the true character of Valencian white wine is defined by the vineyard, the cultivation method, and the philosophy of the winery.
At Vinya Alforí, that essence lives in every barrel, every cluster, every step of a process that unites respect, sustainability, and love for the land.
Our commitment to Valencian white wine
At Vinya Alforí, white wine is not just another line of production: it is a statement of principles. Our winery, located in Fontanars dels Alforins (Valencia), embodies the commitment to rescue authenticity and to offer wines that honestly express the inland Valencian landscape.
Varieties and white style in our collection
On our “Our Wines” page, you will find two key references that define our identity in Valencian white wine:
Vinya Alforí Blanco (D.O. Valencia) – made from Chardonnay / Macabeo, it represents the perfect balance between freshness, structure, and aromatic expression.
Cubet Blanco – also from the Chardonnay / Macabeo blend, offers a rounder, more mature profile, ideal for those seeking greater complexity.
Macabeo contributes acidity and lightness, with floral and fruity aromas, while Chardonnay adds body, texture, and structure. The result is a Valencian white wine with Mediterranean freshness and modern elegance — wines that invite you to enjoy the sun, the land, and Valencian cuisine.
Organic viticulture and sustainable approach
One of Vinya Alforí’s strongest hallmarks is its commitment to organic viticulture. Since 2015, we have carried out a full transformation of our vineyards toward environmentally friendly practices. We eliminated unnecessary oenological products, promoted biodiversity, and worked to preserve the soil’s natural balance.
This ecological approach is not a label — it’s a philosophy. We believe that the vine, the soil, and the climate must speak for themselves. Every bottle of Valencian white wine leaving our winery is the result of this sincere connection between nature and craftsmanship.
At Vinya Alforí:
- We do not use herbicides or synthetic products.
- We encourage the vineyard’s natural balance.
- We respect the vine’s natural cycles.
The result: wines that transmit authenticity, purity, and a 100% Valencian identity.
The winery and its history: enduring roots
Our winery is located at Cal Peller estate, in Fontanars dels Alforins, within the Clariano subzone of the D.O. Valencia. It is a place steeped in history — wine has been produced here for over 250 years using ancient underground jars and traditional methods that now form part of our heritage.
The current vineyard spans about 45 hectares with vines aged between 30 and 75 years, planted at an average altitude of 650 meters above sea level. This privileged environment yields balanced grapes with great acidity and unique varietal expression.
Since 1988, Vicent Francés Mora has led the revival of this project, consolidating in 2015 the transition to organic production and in-house bottling.
Today, we proudly affirm that at Vinya Alforí we don’t just make Valencian white wines — we live them.
What makes Vinya Alforí’s Valencian white wine special
Climate, altitude, and soils: ingredients of intensity
The Les Terres dels Alforins valley is a transition zone between the Mediterranean and inland regions, giving our vineyards a continental climate with maritime influence. Dry, hot summers, cold winters, and wide day-night temperature ranges ensure slow, balanced ripening of white grapes.
The sandy-loam, low-fertility soils force the roots to dig deep, producing wines of concentration, freshness, and mineral character.
Thus are born whites with personality — intense yet subtle, bearing the unmistakable mark of the Valencian landscape.
In the winery: respectful fermentation and aging
At Vinya Alforí, we follow one clear principle: wine is made in the vineyard, and in the cellar, it is respected.
We combine concrete tanks with French oak vats to preserve fruit purity and terroir authenticity.
We add no unnecessary agents and avoid excessive manipulation. This minimal intervention approach allows us to produce honest, clean, and expressive Valencian white wines — each sip telling the story of our land.
Sensory attributes of Vinya Alforí’s Valencian white wine
Tasting a Valencian white wine from Vinya Alforí is a full sensory experience:
- Aromas of ripe white fruit (apple, pear) and white flowers
- Citrus hints of lemon and grapefruit, providing freshness and balance
- Subtle minerality recalling the stony soils of Els Alforins
- Lively acidity and texture with body, thanks to Chardonnay
This balance of freshness and structure makes our whites versatile — able to compete with international references, yet deeply Valencian in soul.
Valencian white wine and pairings: how to best enjoy it
Vinya Alforí’s Valencian white wine pairs perfectly with the cuisine of our land:
- White fish (sea bass, bream, cod)
- Mediterranean seafood and prawns
- Light rice dishes such as vegetable paella or arroz a banda
- Fresh salads with citrus and aromatic herbs
- Mild semi-cured cheeses and Mediterranean tapas
Served between 8 and 10 °C, its freshness shines, offering an elegant and light experience.
